NEW WORK: KERNEL OF TRUTH / L12dW24b

In Kernel of Truth / L12dW24b Adrian Jeans uses an old, unfinished portrait to push his use of colour. Colour can be highly symbolic and Jeans is interested in pre-mixed paints that have names which mirror human traits or ideas. Jeans painted this sculpture with Kernel of Truth, the name given to paint mix L12dW24b. The idea of a Kernel of Truth was the reason Jeans kept this unfinished piece, as it provides a snapshot of his work mid-process; it is a physical record of his sculpting process, as well as of the nature of the clay he sculpts with, which dried out after the project was abandoned, shrinking and then cracking on its metal armature.
